Most Valuable Resources

Today, I could not help but smile when
I saw my two-year old look at me like this!
He thought he was a pirate...but, for a split second,
I thought I was reliving a scene out of the movie "Goonies"
(remember Sloth and the ear?....shhhh....don't tell him)

We went to Fair Oaks Dairy Farm (again) today.
It is one of my favorite places and I love this painting on the wall.

I think it is the pink clouds that captured me!

Speaking of pink (and compliments of Picasa)
then I saw 'smiling faces', and 'cute boys'....

'precious memories and sweet kids...

'funny little people' and then I realized...

Herbert Hoover was right, "Children are our most valuable natural resource."

So today, I felt like wearing my breast cancer awareness pin
simply because I feel better when I am more aware of the needs of others.
(and had fun playing with Picasa Photoshop)

I also did something out of the ordinary,
but not too much,
don't worry,
and purchased the
beautiful Alzheimer's stamps, not only because they are beautiful,
but because I do want to care more and support more.

Just a Vessel

Tonight was my first night at Club Wednesday.
This is my new calling to the K-3rd graders in their mid-week program at church.
Truly the Lord has given me a passion for the kids and their 'stories'..

I attempted a few science experiments...
one of which the noise magnets (seen below)
were suppose to click together and spin while falling in the air...
lesson in the magnet force we could use to cling to Him..
Well, I did throw the magnets up and oopsie...they stuck to the ceiling!
The best part was that Christopher (a 3rd grader) jumped up
and said I could use his that were in his pocket! (I LOVE these guys!)

The lesson was on Humility and Pride!

Truly it was more of a lesson for me...

I was at times needing to 'humble myself' and act crazy for the kids! ...

but, please remember, it is the INSIDE and NOT the OUTSIDE that the Lord looks at! (whew.....that is a relief :))

May the children realize the importance of loving others and who GOD created!
..No matter who, we all need to teach the lesson in humility and pride
...because we have all been there.

May the children realize that this is from HIS Holy Word,
the book we never let get dusty, or place another book on top of.

To break up the seriousness, we did have a "Guest of Honor' who allowed the kids sample possum meat and spoke of 'being different' in a way that kids can appreciate.

Each child was given a red clown nose to help the kids 'humble themselves.'
They were told to take the clown nose and keep it next to a mirror, and the next time
they want to laugh to put it on and to remember to not take yourself TOO seriously!

I even told a quick story about a patient of mine 'John'...one of the nicest guys in the world...
but, my oh my, did he have the biggest nose I had ever seen.
God looks on the INSIDE not the OUTSIDE!

May we continue to teach our children RESPECT.
May the kids know what it means to have respect for all people, no matter what.
And may the kids learn what it means to treat the "guest" with honor.

Does a child truly know honor?
And have I demonstrated it?

Thank you Lord for the opportunity to be your vessel.
I know you truly LOVE those kids!!
And thanks for the extra hugs I got tonight!

Three Potato Four

I have had Childrens' Ministry on the mind!!
For those who have not heard, I will be coordinating the K-4th graders on Wednesday nights at VNC http://www.valponaz.org/ starting April 1 !
(ahhh...just a few weeks!)
Anywho...I have had tons of fun just looking at fun classroom things...

I found this cool website that you can buy old vintage collections of things!

A little pricey! But a great place for ideas!!

Couldn't I just use some of the ideas and build my own creation??
Imagine the yardstick with pegs as a coat rack....what do you think?
Who knows, but I do know it is fun to brainstorm!!

You can click on the link and visit three potato four...

The Jedi Master turns SIX!

I ordered this amazing invite from http://www.princessandthepeas.com/
I LOVED it!
I was thinking of my own personal scrapbook when I ordered it!
I also received many compliments! (Thank you Princess and the Peas)

My mom and dad were able to come to Valpo for the party!!

Not only did they show up...but they were in COSTUME!

The cake was made by a friend from church, Diana Wright!
(Yes, she is starting a business...and I am trying to help!)...beware of black frosting!

My father, was the ultimate Villain!!
You should have seen the kids when he walked down the stairs to his theme song.

Each child was able to complete 'Jedi Training'...he let them each take about 4-5 swings, and then 'graciously' let them win by raising his arm and bowing his head.

Princess Leah was demonstrating the power of "God"

The handsome Jedi Knight, Shaun was using this as an opportunity to guide young lings to the 'Force of God'...

I made tunics for each child and the Princess called each by name for the presentation!

The youngest Jedi was 2 years old and was not able to complete the training..maybe next time.

The group picture!

The group picture PLUS the Death Star! The death star was a hit! We passed it around the circle to Star Wars music and when the music stopped, the child who was holding the Death Star gave their present to Parker.

We did take a moment to 'refuel' the Jedi's!

Each child was then presented with their own certificate of completion!

What an amazing memory! I truly LOVE to celebrate!!

We have had many parties and I LOVE the process of creating them!

Let me know if I can help you plan your next party!
